Amber & Turquoise Class
Our reception, year 1 and year 2 artists created self portraits showing our thoughts and emotions. We started with a black and white photograph of ourselves, then added to it using oil pastel and brusho inks. We worked on showing different thoughts coming from our heads- we talked about different emotions and the lines and marks we could use to represent them.
Magenta & Violet Class
Our year 3 and 4 artists worked on portraits too. We started with large photos of ourselves, which we stuck onto a background. We folded the paper into quarters, then in each quarter we used a different medium to add colours and patterns. We discussed how we could depict different emotions through our choice of colour and the kinds of marks that we made. We got some really interesting results!
Emerald Class
Our year 5 and 6 artists created some zentangle inspired portraits. We looked at some examples and talked about the different lines and patterns we could see. We started with a small photo of ourselves, then drew crazy zentangle hair! We also worked on a large collaborative drawing- we drew round one of the students then filled her outline with doodles. It was great fun!
