Amber & Turquoise Class
Our reception, year 1 and year 2 artists worked on some still life drawing with charcoal this week, using soft toys as subjects. We learned how to look carefully at the subject, drawing it first from memory after only looking at it for a few seconds, then again after studying it and talking about the shapes and textures. After some practise, we drew final versions of our soft toys, using different techniques with charcoal to add tone and texture.
Magenta & Violet Class
Our year 3 and 4 artists worked with charcoal too. We studied feathers in detail, experimenting with various techniques to show the different textures and patterns. We used chalk and rubbers to add lighter tones. We then drew large scale owls, incorporating the feathery marks we’d been developing. We got some stunning results!
Emerald Class
Our year 5 and 6 artists had a go at drawing Manga style characters! We used our observational drawing skills to copy examples of facial features. We then followed step by step instructions to complete a full portrait.
