About Our Artists

Lead Artist- Ellie Sandall

Art Stars is run by Ellie Sandall, a children’s book author and illustrator and experienced art teacher based in Deeping St. James. Ellie grew up in Market Deeping, attending The Deepings School where she spent most of her time drawing covertly in the back of her exercise books! Ellie has a BA in Graphic Design from Bath Spa University, an MA in Children’s Book Illustration from Cambridge School of Art and is qualified to deliver Arts Award at Discover, Explore, Bronze and Silver levels. Having previously worked as a maths and English tutor for 5-14 year olds, Ellie became the Artist in Residence at a primary school in Peterborough, where she taught art across the year groups for seven years. Now freelance, she is working on her eighth picture book alongside her classes with Art Stars.

Ellie is qualified in First Aid at Work and Paediatric First Aid, holds a DBS certificate and Public Liability Insurance, and has completed Safeguarding training.

Support Artist- Michelle Turner

Michelle supports our Wednesday and Thursday classes. She has worked as a teaching assistant at a local primary school for over ten years. She enjoys exploring her creative side, having completed her own mosaic project- see photo! She has also attended evening classes in pottery.

Michelle is qualified in First Aid at Work, holds a DBS certificate and has completed Safeguarding training.




Support Artist- Clare Mulgrew

Clare supports our Tuesday classes. She has worked with children for over 20 years- initially as a sports instructor and swimming teacher, and more recently as a volunteer in a local primary school and with Little Ducklings at the Deepings Library. Clare enjoys arts and crafts both on her own and with her six year old. She enjoys making silver and beaded jewellery as well as crafting using maps and wooden letters!

Clare holds a DBS certificate and has completed Safeguarding training.
