Amber & Turquoise Class
This week our reception, year 1 and year 2 artists have been learning about Mola designs created by Kuna people, who are native to Panama. You can see examples of Molas here. We discussed the colours and patterns used in the Molas, then made our own animal templates to delevop into Mola patterns. We used coloured felt to produce our designs. We got some really bright and colourful results!
Magenta & Violet Class
Our year 3 and 4 artists had a go at producing some handmade felt this week (see last week’s post for more information on the techniques we used).
Emerald Class
Our year 5 and 6 artists worked on some weaving this week. We used homemade looms- pieces of cardboard with notches cut into the top and bottom. We placed lengths of wool between the notches to create the ‘warp’, and then chose different colours, textures and thicknesses of wool to weave in and out (the ‘weft’). This simple weaving technique creates some lovely results! We’re going to finish them off next week.
