Term 4 Week 5- Natural Materials and Tissue Paper Collages

Amber & Turquoise Class

Our Reception, year 1 and year 2 artists made the most of the sunny weather to gather some natural materials for our tree collages this week. We drew around our hands and cut them out to make the trunk and branches of our trees, and then added a combination of natural materials and patterned paper to create the foliage.

Magenta & Violet Class

The year 3 and 4 artists grouted their mosaic coasters this week. They looked great! We’ll give them a final polish when the grout is fully dry. We also made stained glass effect collages by layering tissue paper onto a piece of acetate. We added silhouetted details using black card. The images looked really effective against the window with the light shining through them.

Maroon & Emerald Class

The year 5 and 6 artists also grouted their coasters. They did a great job! We then had a go at some 3D collage techniques, creating relief sculptures using strips of paper. The students came up with some really creative ways to manipulate the paper to make interesting structures.
